‘Game of Thrones’ Director Reveals Why There Was a Starbucks Cup at Winterfell

The coffee giant was the talk of the town on Sunday, because an innocent takeaway cup was present on the medieval aged set of Winterfell in Game of Thrones’ latest episode.

With such an elaborate and extravagant setup at the display, the cup got its due recognition way too quick. And the goof up spread like wildfire on the internet. Responding to the backlash, GoT art director, Hauke Richter in an email to Variety said,” Things can get forgotten on set. [The coffee cup gaffe] so blown out of proportion, it has not happened with ‘Thrones’ so far.”

The scene was like this, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Davos Seaworth, Brienne, Jamie, Tyrion, Sansa, Hound, Tormund Giantsbane among others sat together and partied at Winterfell when the long night came to an end after Arya slew the Night King. However, Dany, upon learning that she is the aunt of the love of her life, Jon Snow was conflicted and was away from everyone and settled for some caffeine. That’s exactly when, the cup appeared in the frame, lying adjacent to Dany. And not take much time, to get noticed.
