The first of its kind, this beauty pageant in India is for transgenders with a coveted title ‘Miss Transqueen’. In a country where they have to fight for their basic human rights, this is a great initiative.
A beauty of Kolkata, Nitasha Biswas who is 26 years old, has won this first ever title which was held in Gurugram. She is all set to represent India internationally in Thailand which will be held in March next year.


There were 1500 trans women applicants and 16 finalists who competed, te oldest applicant who participated was in her early 50s. First runner up was bagged by Manipur’s Loloi Haorongham, Second Runner up was Ragasiya who hails from Tamil Nadu.
Nitasha is currently pursuing her Masters in Business Management from Kolkata. She has seen a lot of struggle and hardships and always wanted to empower women and transgenders as they go through a lot of molestation.
The show was judged by eight judges comprised of social activists, actors, beauty experts and media professionals like Gaur Sawant, Sushant Divgikar, Avleen Khokhar. Miss Transsexual International Australia 2017, Laetitia Phylliscia Raveena, were also present at the event.
