Just minutes before dying on 22-December 2017, a woman said her wedding vows and married the love of her life. Her pictures – which are now viral on the internet – are moving people to tears and also giving them hope for tomorrow.
Heather Mosher married David Mosher at St Francis Hospital in Connecticut, a place where she was being taken care of. Her last and final words before dying were her wedding vows.
“Nobody thought she would’ve made it that far. She proved them all wrong and that’s what that photo says to me.” David told WFSB. “It reminds me of someone who is crossing the finish line of a marathon or something,” he added.
The couple met in 2015 and became inseparable. But on 23rd December 2016, they found out that Heather suffered from breast cancer and that it was terminal. Knowing that it was breaking Heather’s heart, David decided to propose her on the same day.
“She didn’t know I was going to propose that night, but I said to myself, she needs to know she’s not going to go down this road alone,” he said.
But just months after he proposed her, they found out that Heather was diagnosed with triple negative, one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer. They then decided to get married on December 30th but seeing Heather’s health was deteriorating so quickly, they exchanged their vows on 22nd December.
David said, “She’s my great love, and I’m going to lose her, but I’m not losing her forever. Heather said, ‘I want to keep fighting,’ so that’s the mantra I’m picking up. She was able to fight until the end, I’m going to fight until my end.”
We hope David finds the strength to cope up with this magnanimous loss, and that they find togetherness beyond the realms of time and space.
